He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Karen & Trainor Evans, their children Jode & Ryan Vaughan & their daughters, Grace, Ellie, & Macie Kate, and Clayton & Alma Evans & their two children, Jose and Isa. Also surviving Kirk is his sister Stephanie's two children, Taylor Swain and wife Megann, and Stephanie's daughter, Sarah Swain, his sister, Allison Leitch, his brother Michael Leitch and wife Jonda, their three children; Stephen Leitch & wife Karen, their children Molly, Ryder, & Caroline and Benjamin Leitch and wife Amy and their two daughters, Avery & Penny, and their last child, Jonathan Leitch. The final survivors of Kirk are Sydney Cone and her daughter, Branham and Leslie Brooks and her son, Joseph.
Not long after Kirk's birth, his parents moved to his grandparents' farm in Malvern, PA while his father attended art school in Philadelphia. It was here Kirk developed his love for the outdoors. Years later, the family returned to Dallas.
Kirk graduated from Highland Park High School in 1962 and Texas Technological (Tech) College in 1968, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. In 1971, he graduated from SMU Dedman School of Law and was duly initiated into the Roger Brooke Taney Chapter of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity in 1972. He was a member of the Dallas Bar Association, the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association, and The State Bar of Texas. He was also a member of Texas Epsilon Alumni.
He not only ran a successful law practice, but also owned and operated Medical Personnel Pool of Dallas, Fort Worth, and Arlington. In addition to that, he pursued yet another career in the oil and gas industry becoming a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen. Kirk was passionate about sports; hunting, tennis, boating, cycling, soccer, and skiing. While in Europe in 1964, he rode his bicycle from Germany to Italy. He tried out for Dallas' original soccer team, The Dallas Tornado, where he was chosen to be their goalie. However, once he found out that they wouldn't allow him to ski, he declined the position. Skiing became his all-time favorite sport. Not surprisingly, he was a member of the National Ski Patrol for several years.
In closing, we thank Michael Knight, Executive Director of Arden Courts, and his wonderful staff for the care they took of Kirk during his stay there and extend an extra special note of thanks to Brenda Phillips, Kirk's partner in his businesses and a dear, loving, and loyal friend.
